AA batteries: good for portable devices

Because of their convenient size, AA batteries are highly suitable for various types of portable electronic devices. Around 50mm in length and 14.2mm in diameter, an AA battery weighing just 23 grams is still bigger than the AAA or AAAA batteries, but remains ideal for several electronic items such as walkmans and flashlights. Although its output is the same as that of an AAA battery, an AA battery can supply power for a greater length of time to your gadgets.

AA batteries can be of various types, such as the familiar alkaline AA battery, the NiCd AA battery, the NiMH AA battery and the lithium AA battery. The alkaline AA battery gives you an electrical output of 1.5 volts and can range from 1800 to 2600 milliampere-hour (mAh). AA rechargeable batteries are extremely popular now. The combination of an AA battery with an AA battery charger may look expensive at first, but saves you money in the long run.

Many people also like to use the nickel-cadmium (NiCd) AA battery, the nickel metal hydride (NiMH) AA battery or the lithium AA battery because they last longer. These AA batteries have different capacities. For example, you can get an 800-1000 mAh NiCd AA battery instead of the more commonly available 650-800 mAh NiCd AA batteries, if you are ready to spend more. The NiMH AA battery is usually available in capacities between 1400 and 2700 mAh. So, AA batteries of any type can be of great help for users, especially if they are used in portable electronic gadgets.
