What are camera filters? Single filters alone are not sufficient to produce the desired results in creating a perfect image. Filters should be used in combination. One should choose the right number of filters as well the combinations before processing the images. Usually not more than three filters are required for getting the desired effects. The camera filters should be selected on the basis of their properties, keeping the remaining filters aligned with each other. For example, a polarizer should not be used that can increase the color saturation for a low contrast camera filter. However, the polarizer should be used for reducing reflections.
Secondary Reflections
Lighting however you control still produce some flares, especially when one or more filter is used. The lights in the images should be controlled to avoid such flares. The flare can reflect in between the filter surfaces to cause unwanted secondary reflections. It is, however, recommended to use a matte box with a tilting filter to control secondary reflections. Tilting camera filters with good optical quality can be utilized to divert the secondary reflections from the images without making any unwanted distortion or noticeable changes in the camera filter effects. One can also produce the required image effect by improvising the camera filters. For example, to get the net diffusion effects as original as possible, the stocking material is stretched and affixed at the lens end with the help of a rubber band. These camera accessories are available at all leading electronic stores that sell cameras.
