Category 6 cable and its advantages

Cat 6 cable is the acronym for category 6 cable. These cables are standard for Gigabit Ethernet and other network protocols that is backward compatible with the cat5e and category 3 cables. Cat6 cable features more stringent specification for crosstalk and system noise. The cat6 cable has a very high performance scale when compared to the others of its kind. Cat6 cable can be identified by the printing on the side of cable sheath.
The cable contains four twisted copper wire pairs, just like earlier copper cable standards. Although cat6 cable is sometimes made with 23 gauge wire, this is not a requirement. The cat6 cable can be used as a patch cable. Cat6 cable is also a cross over cable and can be used in Local Area Connections. They can connect hub to hub, computer to computer, wherever two ways communication is necessary.
All gigabit Ethernet equipment and most new Ethernet equipments make use of the cat6 cable for more reliable and speedy transmission and reception of data. However, older equipment requires the use of a straight through cable to connect a switch to a client device, and a crossover cable to connect a switch to a switch to a client to a client. Color coding plays an important role when a cat6 cable is used as a cross over cable. More advanced version of cat6 cable is cat6-a cable that holds higher capacity of sending data and receiving it with much more improved reliability.
